Michael Young

Pianist and composer Michael Young earned his Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance at Northwestern University and his Master of Music degree in piano at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Michael is the finalist for the 2011 American Liszt Society Bicentennial Composition Competition. His compositions, mostly for solo piano, include etudes, preludes, nocturnes, inventions, and a set of 24 Preludes and Fugues. Selections from his preludes and fugues have been performed and premiered at the 2010 SCI National Conference, the 2010 Southeastern Composers League Conference, the 2010 College Music Society (CMS) Southern Regional Conference, a 2008 concert at Feng-Chia University in Taichung, Taiwan, the 2008 Ball State University Festival of New Music, the 2007–2009 MSU Keyboard Festivals, the 2006 CMS Great Lakes Regional Conference, and the 2006 Rising Star Concert Series in Taipei, Taiwan.

Michael is the staff accompanist at Morehead State University and the pianist at First Christian Church in Morehead. In 2006, he was the accompanist for the MSU choir tour of Costa Rica. As a member of the Taimiliana Duo, he has performed piano duet/duo recitals with Chia-Ling Hsieh in several US cities and in Taiwan.
