Membership Categories Composer Membership in the Southeastern Composers League is open to all composers residing in the southeastern United States (Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia) who have demonstrated a seriousness of purpose and basic competence in scoring for orchestra or chamber ensemble. Annual Dues: $30 Associate Membership is open to any non-composer or institution interested in the objectives of the League. Annual Dues: $20 Student Composer Membership is open to all undergraduate or graduate students who are located in the Southeast and/or who are studying with an SCL Member Composer. Annual Dues: $10 Associate and Student Composer members may participate in most of the League's activities. Buy and Perform SCL Composers' Music Scores and parts of some of our members' works can be purchased from their publisher website catalogs. There are exciting new works for your audiences, students, performing groups, theory and analysis classes. Tell your colleagues about us at your school, church, music store, or arts organization. MUSIC NOW is published, in January, May, September and November by the Southeastern Composers' League and is distributed to all members, associate members and student members. The deadline for all materials is the first of the month of publication. News of members must be submitted in the form of a brief article. Reviews, lists and programs will not be accepted. Submissions may be sent by e-mail. Send all information to the above editorial address. Student Composition Contest Each year, THE ARNOLD SALOP MEMORIAL COMPOSITION CONTEST For Undergraduate Students and THE PHILIP SLATES MEMORIAL COMPOSITION CONTEST For Graduate Students offers: $150 (1st place) and $100 (2nd place) for winners who: (a) study with a person who is a member of SCL, or (b) are student members of SCL. There are no other curricular or age restrictions. Entries consist of 1) score as a PDF file, 2) mp3 recording (real or MIDI) of the work, and 3) entry form PDF file. The three files are submitted to the SCL Vice President. Download the Form Here (uploaded 8/31/11) Annual SCL Composer Forum Conference Festival Each year, usually in spring, the Southeastern Composers' League presents concerts of new works at their annual forum and new music festival. Concerts of new music, education, fun and fellowship are the main features. This is most often held at one of the universities in the southeast. SCL makes every effort to assure that every member who submits a work gets performed. It is free and open to the public. We'd love to see you there.
